Lucas Martinez
Lucas Martinez is a Los Angeles area composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. He has been involved in music in its numerous and varied forms since discovering the family piano at age six. He began formal musical study with guitar and saxophone a few years later, but hated guitar, quit, and rediscovered/fell in love with it at fifteen. Throughout high school, he took lessons in classical guitar, continued to play saxophone, and began to unearth a very broad interest in music and its many genres/styles. This prompted a decisive move to attend college for an education in music.
Lucas attended USC’s Thornton School of Music and completed a Bachelor of Music degree in Studio/Jazz guitar performance in 2008. His time at USC was spent studying jazz and improvisation, classical guitar, composition, recording, and expanding his knowledge and understanding of music and creativity. His education provided him with a strong knowledge base in composition, orchestration, arranging, and conducting. He has spent the last 10 years in Los Angeles performing, composing, and recording as a solo artist and with various rock/pop/indie groups and artists. He has also been regularly involved in composing and performing music for modern dance works with over 13 productions ranging from five minutes, to evening-length pieces, to his credit.
Lucas currently composes music for all forms of media, and approaches every project with drive and dedication. He records and produces music with his band The Hollow Threads, and actively works as a composer, producer, and songwriter in various musical endeavors from electronic, folk, alternative, rock, and pop. His music has been featured in films and television, and has been premiered in New York City and Los Angeles. His diverse background and influences deliver a myriad of tonal and instrumental possibilities to his compositions. He sometimes finds himself paralyzed by the many musical directions and areas he would like to pursue. He has generally found himself involved in musical ventures that were completely unexpected. (And would not have it any other way.)
